The book chronicles Sand's life and her romance with composer Frederic Chopin. The book is open to the chapter where Chopin expresses his love for Sand. Although the two were never wed, Chopin and Sand spent 10 years together. Chopin saw her has his lover and muse. Some believe his greatest works were created during their 10 year love affair.
